TCCHS STUDENT RECEIVES ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
Only the second athlete to break the 1,000-point scoring record in the history of the Athens High School Varsity Basketball team, Taylor McCaskill, Troy College & Career senior, is the recipient of a scholarship to attend Delta College in University Center, MI.
McCaskill, co-captain and shooting guard for his high school team, celebrated his signing day in the beginning of April and starts conditioning in mid-June. He will begin studies for a career in sports management at Delta in August.
“Delta is going to be a great fit for Taylor. It is going to give him a chance to showcase his skills at the collegiate level and acclimate himself to the college environment and classes. Hopefully, Taylor can turn his time at Delta into a scholarship at a four-year university,” David Scott, varsity basketball coach, said.
Deb MacDonald Linford, principal of TCCHS, said she is impressed with McCaskill’s work ethic.
“I am super proud of him! Taylor is a hardworking, fun-loving individual with a heart of gold who is respected by his peers and staff,” MacDonald said.
