Troy College & Career High School – Tuesday, September 19, 2017
- We happily welcomed 37 new students to Troy College & Career High School this month. Thirty-four of our students are either enrolled in classes at Oakland Community College or preparing to begin in January. New and returning students are not only from Troy, but from many surrounding, metro-Detroit districts, as well!
- Student Government is holding general elections for their leadership board. Students are busy filling out applications, getting recommendations, and preparing speeches to present to the student body prior to voting later in the week. One of the first initiatives for the newly-elected board will be planning for a Homecoming dance scheduled for next month.
- The Women of Tomorrow kicked off the year with an organizational meeting for new and established members earlier today. Women of Tomorrow is a mentor and scholarship program that pairs students with local professional women who sponsor them though their high school years.
- Renee Boogren’s Genetics class is one of only five in Michigan that have been selected to participate in a curriculum field test sponsored by the University of Utah’s Genetic Science Learning Center. In the randomized, controlled trial, Troy College & Career students will be completing a 7-8-week curriculum that was launched in the genetics classroom last week.
