TROY COLLEGE AND CAREER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP

Troy College & Career High School student Melanie Cooney was recently awarded a scholarship for her academic and leadership accomplishments from The Women of Tomorrow.

Cooney was recognized among other seniors from the metro-Detroit area who attended the annual graduation luncheon at the Henry Hotel in Dearborn.  Women of Tomorrow is a program that pairs successful area businesswomen who mentor students through their high school career.

The Troy resident has been a Student Government executive board member for the past three years.  Cooney is also a member of the Social Justice Project and “Fingers Crossed” theatre troupe that presents skits on relevant issues to middle school students in the Troy School District.  Additionally, she has participated in several community service projects and works part-time.  Cooney plans to attend Baker College in the fall to study ultrasound technology.

Troy College & Career assists students in the Metro-Detroit area to recover high school credits, prepares them for higher education, and offers dual enrollment opportunities.  For more information, please call (248) 823-5156.
